When you think about the holidays, you probably think about family, shopping, gifts, and parties. You may be so busy during this time of the year that your relationship may not take top priority. However, the holidays can be a great backdrop for romance. Here are 10 great ideas for romantic holiday dates with your spouse: 1. Go for a stroll an evening stroll in your neighborhood. This is one of my personal favorites. We would bundle up, hold hands, and walk through the winter wonderland. It was always a great time to talk about the past year and share our hopes and dreams for the coming year. 2. Go skating together It is a great way to exercise your heart both physically and emotionally. You can also burn off a few of those holiday calories you consumed at the office party. 3. Holiday in the park Many parks have special holiday events. Check out your local historic parks, amusement parks, city parks, and more. 4. Go shopping together Walking through the mall hand-in-hand can be a way to have couple time. You can also get some Christmas shopping out of the way. Also, if you pay attention, then you can get some fantastic gift ideas for your mate. 5. A tour of lights You can do your own driving tour of Christmas lights or go on a bus tour so you can both enjoy the sites. 6. A holiday tour of homes Many communities have a Christmas tour of homes. It can be a fun way to pass an evening or afternoon. 7. A horse drawn carriage This is the stuff from which romantic dreams are made. 8. The Christmas tree farm Spend the day at a Christmas tree farm picking out your tree, going on a hayride and sipping hot cocoa. 9. An evening at the theater There are a variety of holiday concerts, plays, living Christmas trees, and ballets available. Enjoy an evening of culture together. 10. Trim the tree This may not be practical if you have kids at home since they will want to help (it is not very romantic with Santa's helpers running around). Before we had a child, some of our most romantic memories were of trimming the tree with soft music playing and a fire burning in the fireplace. We collect Christmas ornaments when we travel, so decorating the tree is also a stroll down memory lane for us.
