Last Minute Christmas Shopping Strategies

You promised yourself that this wouldn't happen this year right? You were going to buy all your Christmas gifts weeks before Christmas day so you could avoid the hassles of last minute shopping. It's no secret that shopping last minute can be stressful and can even take away from your holiday spirit. Below are several tricks to keep in consideration so that you don't get put into this situation again. 1. Separate X-Mas Shopping Account - Gifts can get expensive so it's not unreasonable that you may need to buy gifts as money is available. Consider setting up a savings account strictly for buying gifts. Most employers will allow you to take a percentage of your pay check and have it directly deposited into this account as well. My wife and I put aside $50 every two weeks so that the holidays don't effect our daily budget and we can still afford to purchase gifts. 2. One Gift A Day - The holidays not only get hectic but 'extra' time is surely non existent. Why not make one stop to a single store each day after work? It should take less then one hour and it won't require you to take a full day off work at the last moment to finish your shopping. This tactic could be started as early as you like, there is no reason why you can't buy a gift in October or even earlier. 3. Get It All Done In One Day - This is exactly the opposite of the tip mentioned above. You could consider taking one day off of work or even a weekend day to simply buy everything. The earlier in the year you choose to do this the less 'traffic' you will have to deal with in the stores. This strategy works great when combined with setting up a separate X-Mas shopping account. 4. Buy Online - Almost everything you could buy at a store these days are available online as well. Sometimes you may even be able to get a better deal too! Make sure to do your shopping a little early so that you can factor in shipping time. 5. Map Out Gifts - I use to rely on purchasing gifts as I saw them in the stores. I now have adopted the technique of mapping out gifts for individuals. I take the time to look online, advertisements, or 'x-mas lists' and map out the gifts I want to buy for each person. This makes it easy when traveling to the stores. I know exactly what I want to buy and how much it will cost. I save a lot of time using this strategy. There you go five strategies for last minute Christmas and holiday shopping. Hopefully these strategies will help eliminate some of the stress and financial burden associated with the Christmas holidays. Now you can truly enjoy the time with your family and loved ones.
