North America's Top Resort Spas Enchant Guests with Luxury Services
The spa industry is booming. But when it comes to making a decision on where to invest your time and dollars to reap the best rewards in beauty and wellness, the choices can be dizzying. Conde Nast Traveler, the best resource for travel, conducted its reader spa poll to compile the top resort spas in North America and the Caribbean.
The Four Seasons Resort Nevis in the West Indies won the gold. Nevis, a sister island to St. Kitts in the Leeward Islands provides tranquility at their award-winning spa.
The 196-room resort ranked the highest with Conde Nast Traveler readers in categories ranging from setting, cuisine, staff service, and programs and facilities.
The Spa at Four Seasons offers a range of services created to reflect the rhythms of nature, the beauty of the island, and the energies of the season. The special beach-side massage situates guests just steps from the waves, where they are easily lulled by the sound of the surf. Guests can treat themselves to the rum tonic body treatment which begins with a sugar cane exfoliation, followed by a glaze made of rum, ginger, and honey.
Nestled on the cliffs of Big Sur, California, Post Ranch Inn ranked second. Its organic architecture embraces the dramatic beauty of the Big Sur coastline. From here guests can explore all that nature has to offer, or take a short drive to the picturesque towns of Monterey and Carmel. Located off Highway One, this Small Luxury Hotel member is a sanctuary suited to all guests' needs. Rooms offer a rustic elegance with luxury and comfort. Guests may relax by the pools or awaken their senses with a massage, spa treatment, or daily yoga classes. The award-winning Sierra Mar restaurant offers an awe- inspiring setting overlooking the Pacific Ocean, perfect for a romantic dinner for two.
Located in Sedona, Arizona, the Mii Amo Spa At Enchantment Resort ranked third in the elite poll. Also voted number one destination spa in the world by Travel and Leisure readers in 2007, Mii amo takes its name from the Native American word for journey.
Nestled among the red rocks of Sedona, the resort features the Native Mii amo pack
age which begins with a blue corn and mineral essential salt crystals to create a vigorous scrub, followed by a stone massage and facial. The resort also offers a wide variety of classes including core training, qi gong, meditation, and power walks.
Tucked into a private canyon in the Upper Napa Valley and just outside of historic Calistoga, the 46-room Calistoga Ranch is located on a 157-acre site marked by ancient oaks, majestic hills, a rock-hewn stream, and a private lake. Rated fourth on the poll, the resort captures the rich culture of wine, food and nature inherent to the region, offering guests the ultimate experience with a collection of indoor and outdoor spaces that allow them to fully experience the pristine setting. At The Bathhouse, guests enjoy wet/dry treatments, lakeside outdoor treatment tents, a natural spring-fed mineral pool, and yoga deck. Highlights of the Calistoga Cure spa treatment include a eucalyptus steam room and private outdoor mineral mud or immersion bath.
New to Conde Nast's top five is Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa in Lake Buena Vista. Here, guests may revitalize their mind, body, and spirit with a soothing dip in the High Rock Spring Pool, which serves as the resort's focal point. Celebrating the legacy of a gentler era, guests can immerse themselves in pampering with one of the resort's imaginative spa packages such as the Adirondack Adventure or Mystical Forest Retreat.
As its name implies, Las Ventanas al Paraiso, A Rosewood Resort, is a window to Paradise and ranks number six on the Conde Nast Traveler poll. Las Ventanas has redefined luxury and pampering, offering special touches that are the hallmark of refined hospitality. Situated in the Baja Desert, guests indulge in signature treatments that use a blend of Baja's native plants that encourage a body's innate ability to heal and restore.
